Privacy Policy

This policy explains how dsc.bot handles information when you use our website, API, and related services.

Effective date: September 13, 2026
Last updated: September 13, 2026

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to dsc.bot and the websites, APIs, documentation, and other services we operate that link to this policy (together, the Service). In this policy, dsc.bot, we, us, and our refer to the operator of the Service.

This policy does not cover Discord, bots listed on dsc.bot, websites linked from listings, or other services operated by third parties. Those services control their own data practices.

Information we collect

Information from Discord

You may browse much of the Service without an account. When you sign in, Discord provides information permitted by the OAuth scopes you approve. Depending on the feature you use, this can include your Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar, email address, and the Discord applications you are authorized to manage. We also record the scopes you granted and information needed to maintain your connection. We do not receive your Discord password.

Information you provide

We collect information you choose to submit to the Service, including:

  • Bot listing content, such as descriptions, branding, links, commands, support information, update posts, installation details, privacy-policy and terms links, and self-reported statistics.
  • Reviews, votes, reports, moderation appeals, and other community contributions.
  • Team and organization membership information and listing-management activity.
  • Webhook names, destination URLs, selected events, and authentication values you configure.
  • Messages and other information you send when you request help or communicate with us.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically receive:

  • IP address, browser and device type, operating system, user-agent information, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Pages viewed, referring pages, links or buttons used, search activity, listing impressions, and timestamps.
  • Session identifiers, authentication events, cookie values, language, theme, and other preferences.
  • Diagnostic information such as request logs, error records, and security events.

Information from other sources

We may obtain public Discord application, user, server, command, product, and asset metadata from Discord and public metadata providers. We may also receive reports about accounts or listings from other users and security or abuse information from service providers.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, authenticate, personalize, and maintain the Service.
  • Create and display accounts, public profiles, bot listings, reviews, votes, and other requested features.
  • Confirm that users are authorized to create or manage listings and teams.
  • Deliver webhooks and other integrations configured by listing teams.
  • Measure traffic, listing performance, and feature usage; debug errors; and improve the Service.
  • Detect spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
  • Review reports, moderate content, enforce our rules, and protect users and third parties.
  • Respond to support, privacy, legal, and other requests.
  • Comply with law and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information:

  • To perform our contract with you, including providing the Service under our Terms of Service.
  • For our legitimate interests, including securing and improving the Service, understanding usage, moderating content, and protecting our users, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • With your consent, when we specifically request it. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect vital interests where necessary.

How we share information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. Vendors may process information for hosting, infrastructure, analytics, security, bot protection, content delivery, and support under agreements that limit their use of the information.
  • At your direction. We share information when you connect an integration, configure a webhook, follow an external link, invite a team member, or otherwise ask us to do so.
  • Publicly. Public account details and contributions are shared as described below.
  • Safety and legal reasons. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate abuse, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, safety, and security of dsc.bot, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. Information may be disclosed as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of the Service, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Public information

dsc.bot is a public bot directory. Bot listings, profiles, usernames, avatars, reviews, review conclusions, listing-team responses, votes or vote totals, update posts, and similar contributions may be visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines. Other users may copy or share public content outside dsc.bot.

Do not include private, confidential, or sensitive information in public content. Removing content from dsc.bot does not remove copies independently made by others or cached by third parties.

Cookies and analytics

We use browser storage and cookies for the following purposes:

  • Essential functions: maintaining sign-in sessions, routing requests, protecting accounts, and preventing abuse.
  • Preferences: remembering settings such as language, theme, colors, and trusted external-link hosts.
  • Analytics: understanding page views, navigation, feature usage, listing impressions, and interactions so we can operate and improve the Service.

We use PostHog for product analytics and Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish people from automated abuse during certain actions, such as voting. Your browser settings can block or delete cookies, but essential features, including sign-in, may then stop working. Where required, we will request consent before using non-essential storage or analytics.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for the purposes described in this policy. The period depends on the type of information, whether your account or listing remains active, and our legal, safety, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution obligations.

Account and public-content information may remain until it is deleted or your account is terminated. Security logs, moderation records, transaction-like records such as votes, and backups may be retained longer when reasonably necessary to protect the Service, preserve the integrity of community records, comply with law, or resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete, de-identify, or aggregate it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your Discord account secure, review requested OAuth scopes, and use unique, unpredictable webhook authentication values. If you believe your account or data has been compromised, contact us promptly.

International transfers

dsc.bot and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers and take steps intended to protect information consistently with this policy.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to or a copy of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
  • Receive certain information in a portable format.
  • Appeal a decision or complain to your local data-protection authority.

You can change many profile, listing, and preference settings in the Service. Account controls may also let you request a data export or account termination. To make another privacy request, use the contact method below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where permitted or required by law. Authorized agents may submit requests where local law allows, subject to verification of their authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must also meet the minimum age required to use Discord in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children who cannot lawfully use the Service. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this section, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Third-party services

The Service interacts with third parties whose own terms and privacy policies apply. These include Discord, public Discord metadata providers, PostHog, Cloudflare, and the operators of bots and websites linked from listings. Review their policies before giving them information. In particular, see Discord’s Privacy Policy, PostHog’s Privacy Policy, and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service or law changes. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when required by law.

Contact us

For privacy questions or requests, contact the dsc.bot team through our official support server. Do not post sensitive information in a public channel; ask for a private support route. Please include enough information for us to identify your account and understand your request. You can also review the rules governing the Service in our Terms of Service.
